Renee Lechner went to be with her heavenly father on January, 26, 2015. She was both loved and loving, and shall remain forever in our hearts and memories. Born on July 29, 1960, spent her childhood years in Monaca, Pa and currently resided in Collinsville, IL. She was a retired clerk for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. After being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1998, she was triumphant in her battle with the disease for nearly 18 years. Renee obtained her Bachelors of Social Psychology at Park University in 2004. Her ability to overcome her physical ailments served as an inspiration to everyone that knew her and will continue to provide them with strength. Her interests included reading, sewing, and playing games on the internet as well as with close friends at her home. Renee had a great love for animals. Her miniature schnauzers, Jack and Jill brought her great joy for many years and she was recently blessed with a new puppy JJ. She was a wonderful mother who will be remembered for her love of her family, dedication to her children and grandchildren, and for the precious moments that they shared together. She is survived and will be missed by her children, Rick and Crystal Lechner of Scott Air Force Base, Rebekah and Brian Wallace of Smithton, IL; her parents James and Rosalie McGovern; grandchildren Xander Lawrence and Rand Wallace of Smithton, IL; sisters Rhonda Gilchrist, Rosalyn Johnson, and Colleen Sempf; brothers James McGovern, Sean McGovern and Matthew McGovern; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews caregivers Brittany and Melissa and longtime friend Norma She was preceded in passing by her brother Pat McGovern. The family would like to send special thanks to the many caregivers and friends who enabled Renee to remain in her home. In celebration of her life friends may call on Saturday, January 31, 2015 from 2:00 P.M. until the time of the service at 5:00 P.M. at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. The family wishes in lieu of flower memorials that donations be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 525 W Monroe St Ste 900, Chicago, IL 60661.
