Not sure what to say?

Wow. I have the pleasure of knowing Doc Stone for many years. His daughter Diahann and I went to Western High and played in the band and orchestra together. My prayers of strength in faith to "Ma" (Dororthy), Diahann, Brian and loved ones. Do that glorious ceiling dance now "Doc" in the awesome heavenly jazz band! - Cindy Baker

First met Reppard Stone while I was doing graduate work at Morgan State the summer of 1963. He was directing the jazz ensemble I believe. Then in 1965 after we returned from a year in Oxford, England where my dad was studying, Reppard was the first person to hire me for a big band gig here in Baltimore City. As a fellow trombonist, I was forever grateful! He had such an influence on so many of us. RIP dear friend.

He took over the reigns as band director at the former Northern High School back in 1979. He turned a small group of musically inclined students into true musicians. When we didn't think we were good enough to compete with some of Maryland's better high school music programs, you showed us that we were just as good. I can't speak for all of them. All I can say is that you had a tremendous affect on my life and I will never forget you for that guidance.

Dr. Stone's contributions to jazz and the development of youth/young adults cannot be understated. I feel fortunate to have met him during high school, studied with him at Howard, and mentored by him over the years. Dr. Stone will be remembered and his presence is already missed.
