Eagar, Reuben Paul
62, was born in Springerville, AZ to Paul and Edith Eagar. He spent his childhood years in Eagar, enjoying the carefree lifestyle of the rural area. In his teenage years he worked along side his father and brother, Evan, at the family service station. He graduated from Round Valley High School in 1966. After attending Mesa Community College for one year, he fulfilled an LDS mission to Ontario Canada. Upon returning from Canada, Reuben attended MCC and ASU. He and Helen Hamblin were married in the Mesa Arizona Temple in 1970 and began their 41 years of married life in Mesa. Reuben was in his 40th year of employment with Farnsworth Homes. He started out working on a framing crew. He has been a General Superintendent, Remodel Department Manager, and House Planner/Sub-division Manager. At the time of his death Reuben was President of Farnsworth Homes, Inc. He very much enjoyed his many years of working in the Young Men's organization of the LDS Church and served as Bishop of the Mesa 46th ward from 1988-1993. He is survived by his sweetheart, Helen, daughter Nicole Conway (Cory), sons Lincoln (Anna), Matthew (Stacy), Clay (Jewelia), Kolter (Lindsey), and C.J. (Lisa), thirteen wonderful grandchildren, and sister Nina Pickering. He is preceded in death by his parents Paul and Edith, sister Judith, brother Evan, and granddaughter Shaye. He was an avid horseman and enjoyed seeing Arizona on horseback with family and friends. Above all his favorite thing to do was to spend quality time with his family. A giant among men, he truly was a man of velvet and steel. Reuben passed away on May 2, 2011 in Phoenix, Arizona. Funeral services will be on Friday May 6, 2011 at 11am at the Mesa East Stake Center, 2228 E. Brown Road, Mesa, AZ. Viewing will be Thursday, May 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bunker's Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial Way.
I have many fond memories of Rueben during our school days. I send my sincere condolences to Helen and family.

We will never forget Reuben. As a young couple, he helped show us how to parent and lead in the ward. And his influence among the Young Men has helped our two boys tremendously. As a Young Woman Leader with Reuben, lets not forget the great influence he has had on the Young Women too. We will miss the stories, the Reevis Ranch trips and the many good times. We love you too Helen and family. God bless you all. Love, The Skousons

I worked at Farnsworth with Reuben for a few years, a few months at Homes and then a few years at the Accounting Office. I am sorry to hear of his passing and pray that the family have peace in this difficult time.

I am very sorry for his passing. I have a lot of love and respect for him. He has truly influenced my life. He was the Bishop that sent me on my mission and was my Bishop upon return. I remember as a Deacon/Teacher/Priest him teaching our quorum what it meant to be men of steel and velvet. I consider him the standard to follow. With sympathy, love and respect,

I have known and been very close to Reuben for over 23 years. We have worked on so many things together in church and personal things. He is one of the finest men I have ever known. He has touched so many young men in his years of service. He has effectively served so many and has been a burden to no one. I will miss him greatly. His legacy will outlive him as his influence will last forever.
With Admiration and Gratitude,

What a man! The highest honor I can give to a dear friend is to express the gratitude I have for the impact he has had on hundreds of young men. I have been privilaged to work with him in the young mens program, and saw first hand the true meaning of love he had for each and every boy, including my own son. He truly taught them the meaning of what it is to be men of velvet and steel. We need not look any farther than his own family to see what a wonderful Husband and Father he is.
