Coach Ruiz and my Dad got to know each other as the coach and doctor for the Lee High football team. When he interviewed and hired me teach in Ascension parish he told me to make him proud. I know how proud his family was of him. I have been out of town and just found out today. I'm terribly sorry for the loss of such a good man. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

It was a privilege to know Reuben when he was the football coach at Lee High and I was the team physician. In spite of arthritic problems, he never complained or let it get in the way of being a great coach. I remember him as a kind, gentle, caring and humble man. His players loved him. I extend my condolences to his family.
