Not sure what to say?

Pastor Valen was a wonderful man of God. He has always held a special place in our family’s life since his ministry at Westwood. We are saddened to hear of his death and send our sympathy to Ardis and the family. The beautiful painting that I have hanging in our living room is the dawn of a new day on the farm. I thank God for Dave and Ardis’s impact on my life in so many ways.

Pastor Valen was our pastor for many years at Westwood Lutheran in SLP. He officiated over my wife Kristin and my wedding ceremony over 25 years ago. He was a great pastor and leader of our church and a wonderful advisor to Kristin and I in our pre-marriage and early years of marriage. Rest in peace Pastor Dave and condolences to his family.

Rest in a wonderful peace. I have had the recent gift of listening to some great stories from Mike and Dene. May all your family, friends and thousands of individuals know that you are always with them.

Pastor Valen was an exceptional preacher. He gave us insight into the relevance of the Word to our modern lives. He added bits of background to the gospel. Always heartfelt but never histrionic. Our family loved his sermons. We missed him very much when he left Westwood. Condolences to all his family.

Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help us cope. Remembering you and your loved one today and always. I will never forget the service he did for my mom, connie brettingen. Thank you for everything.

Reverend David's brother John and I graduated together from Hayfield High School, Minnesota. We were basketball teamates and friends then and have remained so ever since. John, his wife Cheryl and her roommate Donna all attended St. Olaf college together. My Army service and his Navy service ended at the same time. Shortly after, I received the greatest gift I have ever received from anyone. A blind date with my wife of 51 years, Donna Lynn Evjen (Glaub). You done real good John. Les
