I was so inspired to read Ed's obituary. Thank you for sharing so many special things about him. I knew Ed when he did mission work in eastern KY in the 1960s. Pastor Ed conducted Betty and my pre marital counseling. He married us at Duke Gardens on August 7th 1982. There were many memories that day. Quite frankly, Ed Henegar was one of the finest
men I ever knew and a true Southern
gentleman! My cousin Gene Shepherd and I
had many meals and meaningful talks with

Ron and I are yet one more couple whose wedding was officiated by Ed Henegar. By God's grace, we are still enjoying that marriage 49 years later. I was nourished by his pastoring all my years at Duke University.

I have always been grateful for the meaningful and warm ministry of Ed and Judy Henegar. My life in Durham was as a student at the Duke University School of Nursing, graduating in June 1971. Under Ed's leadership, Blacknall Presbyterian Church was truly supportive of college students and served as a church home for many of us involved in Campus Crusade for Christ and Young Life at that time. What a wonderful gift Ed and Judy were to our family while we were at Blacknall in the 70s. We remember this time, sitting under Ed’s teaching, as some of our greatest spiritual growth as individuals and as a family. Upon moving to Durham in '92 to buy my funeral business, I was eager to meet the local clergy with whom I would be working. Fr. Tom Midyette, the rector of St. Philip's, told me my next stop without passing "go" was to meet Ed Henegar at Blacknall Church. Said Tom, "he is one of the most genuine pastors you will come to know. Ed was my pastor during my time at Duke University Medical Center. The fellowship at Blacknall was sweet and Ed officiated my wedding. He stayed in touch with my husband and me after he moved to the Charlotte area. When my husband, Jonathan, died six years ago he spoke at his funeral and he and Judy continued to minister to me.
