Not sure what to say?

I was a friend and fellow student in graduate theology school at Saint Mary's College in Moraga, California during the late 1960s and early 1970s. I will be visiting Cleveland in November 2017 and had hoped to visit with Father James, so it is only now that I have learned of his death. He was everything that those who have written condolences have described. I am a member of Saint Martin's Abbey in Lacey, Washington.

Condolences on the death of Fr. Mc Manamom, I am a cousin of the three McIntyre sisters, Mildred,Geraldine and Anna Mae from West Park Ave. in Cleveland, Ohio. I remember them mentioning Fr. many times in our conversations. There is another relative, I believe, who used to visit them from Dugort,Achill, Co. Mayo Ireland, P. J. Gallagher. Out regrets at the death of Father.

I took care of Fr. McMmanamon at Mt Alverna for a very long time before I retired last May. Very holy and religious person and a very smart and kind man. Nurse Bonnie Retired

Fr. McManamon and my father (God rest his soul) became friends several years ago at Mt. Alverna in the assisted living side. They ate and prayed together and just hung out with each other. I would eat dinner with them several nights a week. My young daughter also loved talking to him. Fr. McManamon you were a caring, kind hearted man. Rest in peace.

When our youngest was 3 or 4 he followed his dad up to communion at Holy Family, he tugged on his coat and asked him of that was God. It was Fr. McManamon. He always took time to bless the children.

Fr. James and I are 25 years apart in age, but we're both Franciscan friars. He came to be the Superintendent at the local Catholic high school in Columbus,NE -- my birthplace. Ever since the first time we met, he has remembered me. This trait endeared him to me deeply. He was a great man and a great educator. May he rest in eternal peace!

It was an honor indeed to know Fr. McManamon. Such a brilliant, accomplished man and yet so very humble (he used to claim that OFM stood for "Old Fat Monk"). I got to know him while serving as a lector at Holy Family in the 90's. If the weather was inclement, he'd start Mass a few minutes late so that everyone would have plenty of time to get settled! May God rest his kind, good, gentle soul and give comfort to his family.
