August 9, 2015 Dr. Thomas Earl Gilmore, SR transitioned to his heavenly home on August 9, 2015. He became the First African American Sheriff of Greene County, Alabama in 1971 and was affectionately known as the Sheriff Without a Gun. Pastor Gilmore entered the ministry in 1959 and has served as the pastor of First Baptist Church, Ensley since 1983. Preceding him in death was his wife of 35 years, Minnie Lee Gilmore. He leaves to cherish life-long memory: His mother, Beatrice Gilmore O'Neal; his daughter, Angela Denise, his sons, Reginald Bruce, Thomas Earl, Jr, Ronald Bernard, Andrew Marcus and Andre Kareem; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, dear friends, the First Baptist Church Family and the Greene County Family. Viewing Thursday, August 13, 2015 6pm-8pm at First Baptist Church Ensley. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 14, 2015 11am at First Baptist Church Ensley. Saturday, August 15, 2015 viewing 12 noon until Funeral Service at 2pm at NEW Greene County High School -14221 U.S. Highway 11, Boligee, AL (south of Eutaw, AL city limits).
