On Monday, Sept. 20, 2010, God summoned an angel, Mrs. Reva D. Johnson, to his beautiful garden to be with her son, Samuel L. Johnson Jr. She departed life from the John Randolph Medical Center, Hopewell, Va.

Reva Delouis Johnson was born on June 20, 1947, in Wilson County, N.C. She was a graduate of Swift Creek High School Class of 1967, Whitakers N.C., and furthered her education at John Tyler Community College, Chester, Va.

She worked with the Petersburg Police Department for over 25 years, Petersburg Health Department and an officer of election, city of Petersburg.

She was loved and respected by all of the employees at the Petersburg Police Department. She was a faithful member of Bibleway Christian Center for over 15 years.

Reva was preceded in death by her uncles, William T. Hines and Wilbert Hines, and aunts, Fannie E. Battle.

She leaves to cherish her fond and beautiful memories, her husband, Samuel L. Johnson Sr.; two daughters, Sonja T. Johnson and Janett L. Johnson; mother and father, Raymond and Carried Stewart; brothers, William Henry Leonard, Silas Earl Leonard, Johnny Ray Leonard, George Thomas Leonard, Edward Lee Leonard and Anthony Wayne Leonard; sister, Linda Fay Johnson (Michael) and Gretchen Tawon Davis Branch. She also leaves eight grandchildren, Avashia M. Parham, Chauntrell D. Johnson, Khari T. Johnson, Damion I. Johnson, Natalya E. Johnson, Qyasha U. Davis, Darrell L. Birch and Derrellka L Birch; aunts and uncles, John T. Hines Jr., Velma O. Williams, Willie Hines, Dorothy J. Allen, Ester G. Marshall, Edward L. Hines, George L Hines and James R Hines; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family wishes to express our sincere gratitude for the love and kindness shown to us during this time and bereavement. We thank you all and God bless you all.

Homegoing services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at Good Shepherd Baptist Church, 2223 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Va.; the Rev. Jeffrey L. Reaves Sr., pastor, and Elder Michael Johnson, eulogist. Interment to follow at the Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.

The family will recieve friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at the funeral establishment.

The family will also receive friends at the residence.
