Reva Schneps

Reva Schneps,87, of Barton died peacefully February 16, 2009 in Newport. She was born February 23, 1921 in Montreal,Quebec a daughter of Isadore and Lottie (Baranoff) Sockol. On January 3, 1943 she married Jack Schneps who predeceased her in 1994. Mr. and Mrs. Schneps owned and operated The Economy Five and Ten Retail Store in Mystic,Conn for several years. A life long resident of Barton, she was on the Barton Library Committee, Senior Housing Committee and she was past matron of the Eastern Star. Among her hobbies,she enjoyed gardening, traveling, crocheting and cooking. She is survived by two children: Gloria Zwirn and her husband Stanley of Glastonbury,Conn, and Stephen Schneps and his wife Rita of Wolcott,Vt; two grandchildren: Robert Zwirn and his wife Jodie, and Jennifer Zwirn, a great grandson Jack Zwirn, a brother Stanley Sockol and his wife Allegra of Belmont, California, a sister Goldie Schwartz of Great Neck, Long Island,NY, and by several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday February 19, 2009 at the Hebrew Benevolent Cemetery in Norwich, Conn.
