Not sure what to say?

What a shock! And oh, so sad. A shock, because although we know, at this stage of our lives, it will happen - most of us are not really prepared! That's the shame.
Sad, because Rex was so special to all of us. He possessed such a zeal for life. An ability to lift us with his humor & enthusiasum, his positive attitude-which is huge when on the road!
We worked together, traveled together, spent our days off together, shared some terrific success together. Until we hit Hawaii-Rex didn't...

I am still in a state of disbelief over Rex's premature passing. It's difficult to accept the fact that my old bandmate is gone but the reality is slowly settling in. Rex was an extraordinary bassist who could effortlessly move from genre to genre without missing a lick. However, his lasting legacy is - and always will be - Texas 60s rock and roll. Garage rock has indeed lost a legend. My sincerest sympathies go out to Jan and Rex Jr.

It is hard to imagine a world where I won't see Rex's smiling face as we shake hands after crossing paths on a gig. He was and always will be a true gentleman and a friend. My deepest sympathy to his family.

So many great memories from the 70's come to mind when I think of Rex. We were roommates on the road doing what we loved: performing and playing music. We had a great time in Hawaii and he almost convinced me to stay but we went our seperate ways.
I will always remember his fun spirit and huge grin almost covered by a formible handle bar moustace.
I regret I was not able to visit before he left us.
Jan, I hope you find great comfort in Rex jr. and all of your family and friends. as...

I didn't know Rex personally, but I knew of him back in Corpus Christi. I always admired his talent, his musicianship. It's sad to think he has passed on. My condolences to his family.

I've known Rex for almost 20 years. It was truely a pleasure knowing Rex. We never had a conversation where his family didn't come up. He was truely proud when Jan learned to edit and when Jr played. My condolences go out to his family and friends.

Rex was a great guy and always had a great spirit. I worked with him on many events in the Houston area. I am sorry to hear of his passing. But I am glad to know him as man and friend. My condolances to his family.

Deepest empathies:

A dear Friend, a fine musician, a caring soul and just an all around happy person. His playfulness will be missed in a world increasingly filled with gray. Somewhere Rex is cavorting and cheering up those he encounters. He left an example of friendship and warmth I will borrow. We were old friends long ago and as kids you never knew what to expect from Rex but it always began with a sincere smile and a welcome.
These are traits I tend to believe we all need to...

A long ago friend, from a long ago life...whenever Rex's name is mentioned when stories of those days are told... smiles appear! He was that kind of person. Thank you, Rex, for spreading the joy in life, even when we were all so young.

Condolences and warm wishes to his wife and son, as well as all his loved ones and friends.
