Rex Albert Jordan Rex Albert Jordan, 86, of Fairmont, Kingmont Community, passed away Monday, December 5, 2011 at his home. He was born in Weston on March 31, 1925, a son of the late Albert Clarence and Mayme Ann (Swisher) Jordan. He attended Peterson Grade School and was a 1943 graduate of Weston High School. Rex enlisted into the U.S. Navy and served from 1943-1946. He was deployed to the Panama Canal and the Pacific Ocean, specifically Hawaii and the Japanese Coast. He was Storekeeper Third Class on the USS Waldron. This ship led the fleet of ships including the USS Missouri into Japanese waters to sign the Peace Treaty to end the Pacific arena of WW II. He graduated from WV Business College in Fairmont in 1949 and WVU in 1952 with a BS in Accounting. He was employed with Monongahela Power, he was vice president and treasurer for Howard Colbert Inc. and he also worked for the Marion County Board of Education as Chief Accountant for 22 years, retiring in 1993. Rex and his wife Doris Lee lived out their retirement years on the Tygart River where they boated for 49 years. He held past offices in the Jaycees, United Way Board, YWCA Board, Rescue Mission, Salvation Army and numerous boards and committees at his beloved church, Faith United Methodist. He was a member of FUMC since 1949. He was member of the Mountaineer Power Squadron for 25 years and was a HOSPICE Volunteer for MVA. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Doris Lee (Colbert) Jordan of Fairmont, two daughters, Sherry (Randy) Henline of Whitewater, Kansas, and Diana (Lee) Godbey of Lewisburg, one son, Randy (Mary) Jordan of Fairmont, grandchildren, Travis (Terry) Henline, Jarred (Ashley) Henline, Randall Jordan, Brandon Jordan, Garrett Jordan, Hannah (Nathan) Sites, Jordan Godbey, step-grandchildren, Suzan (Shawn) Shoulders, Josh (Sherrie) Rice, Luka (Melisa) Grabb and Andrew Grabb, great- grandchildren, Gavin, Dyson, Cambrey, Ellie, Brody, Emma, and Ryker and step-great-grandchildren, Madison, Connor, Caleb, and Alyssa. Also surviving are two sisters, Ada Williams and Maxine Smith of Weston. Per Rex's request, family and friends may call at the Faith United Methodist Church, 322 Fairmont Ave., Fairmont on Wednesday from 7-9 pm and on Thursday from 10-11 am. The funeral service will be held in the church on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at 11 am with Rev. Clyde Beard and Pastor Aslam Barkat officiating. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover with Pastor Aslam Barkat presiding where flag folding rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard. The family would like to thank Rex's caregivers, Mary Jordan, Garrett Jordan, Angie Vincent, Ruth Caspers, and Hospice Care of Fairmont. In lieu of flowers, Rex's wishes were that donations be made to the Rescue Mission of Fairmont, 107 Jefferson St., Fairmont, WV 26554.
