I played for coah back in 2000. When i heard of this i was earching everywhere just to find the funeral info. He was an amazing person and such a strong coah. Thank you for teaching us so much and guiding us to a great couple of seasons. You are deeply missed.

I've swam for numerous coaches and Rey was the only one whom I ever respected enough to call "coach", both on and off the pool deck. From swimming in a pool full of gnats to getting kicked out of our water polo games, coach was always pushing us to the limit and supporting us wholeheartedly. He is the only person who ever understood what drove me to swim and used that knowledge to mold me into a better athlete, but more importantly a better individual. I played water polo with Rey and have spent the last few days thinking of times and memories I have of him. When he was named most improved player at a National Jr. Team Camp in Colorado Springs, playing together on the East team at the US Olympic Festival team in St. Louis when we won the gold medal, playing cards in the athletes quarters between games there, hanging out at UOP when Rey was a senior and I was on my recruiting trip, the very first time I had In-N-Out Burger.
