Not sure what to say?

Easter made me think of Ishtar and Ishtar made me think of Rhoda Lerman so I Googled her and was sad to find she has passed away. Cazenovia in the early 70s was a pretty sleepy little town and Rhoda was the first genuine "famous person" I ever met.
I do remember the Lerman home as warm and informal, and Rhoda being one of those rare adults who spoke to awkward teenage girls (or at least this awkward teenage girl) like a real person who might have ideas and thoughts worth...

To the Lerman family...I have just learned of Rhoda's death this evening...please forgive me. I used to walk the dogs and clean out their kennels. Rhoda, Bob, and the dogs came at a time when my youngest brother passed and provided a much needed diversion. I was never treated like the hired help but like a member of their family. I have an interest in the study of the history of the 3rd Reich.Rhoda and I had many interesting discussions about this as well as one of her favorite topics: the...

Dear Bob and wonderful family of my favorite high school friend, Rhoda

I first met Rhoda and her twin sister, Judith, in high school when we were in the orchestra. Rhoda played the cello in our high school orchestra and she and her twin became my best friends in those years and for long years after. (I played the violin.)

There were many giggles, laughter, much humor and insights shared. I especially remember one time when the three of us stayed late for orchestra...

Rhoda's with Lulu's litter in Edwards, CO.

My mother was a great woman. Great writer, great activist, great dog breeder, great mother, influencer, thinker, questioner and best friend. She leaves a great legacy in all areas. Yup, too many greats, but we miss her dearly and it is hard to imagine, even 2 months later, that I will never get to hang out with her or talk with her again. She didn't deserve to die from cancer. She gave it her best shot. That was Mom. Always peaking around the next corner. Thank you everyone for your...

Dear Bob and Family..My thoughts of all you are over flowing with special memories. Rhoda is a special person who shared her love of literature ,life and dogs. Most of all she loved her family and friends. I will miss her and the world is a more hollow place because of her passing. Pat Driscoll Bend Org.

We just learned about Rhoda. Our whole family owes a huge debt of thanks to Rhoda for helping us with our newfies over the years. We will treasure the memories we have of Rhoda and the wonderful times at the house and the fun dog adventures there. She was so kind and funny and an inspiration to us. We will always have newfies in our lives thanks to Rhoda. This is a picture my girls loved of Rhoda and Theo from a visit.

Dear Bob, Jill, Julie and Mathew,
I am so proud to be a part of the Blue Heaven family. Every time I look at Bo, I think of Rhoda. She has given me the best gift, my boy. What a remarkable women, writer, breeder, and extension of my family. Rhoda, you are greatly missed by so many people. And just to let you know, I am honored to have met you. We all love and miss you. Love from Florida.

Rhoda with Lulu-Nemo puppy

Dear Bob, Jill, Julie and Matthew.

Every snuggle, walk, romp, ball-tossing, training, grooming, feeding and all around blessing of love with Freya, Hermes and Apollo is a gift from Rhoda. We feel so grateful for her trust in us to care for these spectacular beings. I feel grateful that I was able to reconnect with her 8 1/2 months ago and spend time together during the wee hours of the morning as we bottle nursed her last litter of Blue Heaven pups. I was fascinated by her deep...
