Of Peabody, MA, entered into rest, Sept. 7, 2007. Beloved wife of the late Paul S. Olans. Devoted mother of Sheri Olans Wright and husband Robert Wright, Alan Olans and wife Jacquie Becker-Olans, and Dr. Lori Olans and husband Dr. Matthew Waldor. Sister of Stanley Betterman of AZ and the late William Betterman and sister-in-law of Leslie Betterman and Laura Levine. Cherished grandmother of Alyssa, Jessica, Emma, and Maya. Services at Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapels, 10 Vinnin St., SALEM, MA, Monday, Sept. 10, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Memorial Observance will be at her late residence Monday following the service and Tuesday from 12 pm to 8 pm. What do we say about our special friend, Rhoda? Do we say she was amazing—truly amazing, just as Lori stated? Of course, we do! Do we say she was a mother who was always there for her children—to listen, to care, to give of herself, just as Alan stated? Of course, we do! Do we say she was her children’s best friend, just as Sheri stated? Of course, we do!

We would also like to say that we thank her and Paul for all the wonderful memories with which they left us; memories of a unique relationship we shared as neighbors and friends, raising our wonderful children together, sharing the joys and the sorrows and most of all, the love of an extended family.

We shall miss her and Paul forever, but will never forget the ties we built together on Whitney Drive! We will always love the Olans Family!

Alan, Sheri and Lori,
I only met your mother and dad once, with you, Sheri. Remember? We went on a search for our ancestors to that cemetery where you grandfather, my grandfather's brother, is buried. You, your mom and dad and I searched for clues and your dad found my grandmother's father's grave, all alone and that baby's grave in the back.
It was a really nice day. I'm glad I met them both, and you too. I remember saying to my brother, later on, "I'm meeting all these ancestors and it makes me kind of sad because I'll never get to talk to them".

Ha.

Anyway, I'm very sorry for your loss of your mom and your dad too. My mother is heart sick over it- the distance of years is ringing particularly raw. But, my dad is very ill and she wishes that she could have been there. She sends her greatest and most profound sympathy for your loss and the loss of yet another of the original Betterman Clan, descendents of that voyage of the Lusitania.
