Ricardo was born in Laredo, Texas on February 5, 1967 to parents, Alfredo and Martha Cecilia Avila and siblings, Alfredo Jr., Cecilia Martinez, Selene Amancio, Sol I. Avila and Estrella Martinez. Ricardo grew up in Monterrey Nuevo León, Mexico and moved to Pico Rivera, California in 1982 with his family.

He worked hard to learn a new language and graduated from El Rancho High School, Pico Rivera with top grades within 2 years in 1985. Within these two year he met his best friends and compadres, Albert Hernandez and Javier Gomez put him on the path to hobbies, cars, fashion, music, and travel.

He met his love of his life, Esmeralda at Quiet Canon, Montebello, CA in 1989 (he asked her to dance first and not the other way around, as he often claims, fell in love and he proposed after 6 months of dating. Married on January 25, 1992 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Whittier, CA. Blessed with 5 children; Ricky, Samantha and Erica but two babies were not in God's plan and in Heaven, Emma and Angel greeted their Dad when he joined them in Heaven.

Ricardo fought hard to the very end against Cancer but sadly took him on Sunday, June 8th. He kept his humor, positivity, bravery and never lost hope. He trusted in God and had faith that he walked beside him all along and God never left his side. He was surround by his entire family with radiating love, support and above all God's presence. His courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Ricardo would never crease to light up the room with his laugh and humor.
