RICARDO RIVERA LOPEZ, 89, entered into his eternal slumber on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at his home surrounded by four generations of his family. He was a widower of Jenny A. Lopez in which they shared 65 years of marriage. Born in Las Cruces, May 28, 1932 and was the son of Anastasio and Maria Lopez. Ricardo was an employee for the City of Las Cruces, New Mexico State University and owned his business, Lopez Plumbing and Heating. He served his country honorably in the United States Army and was a disable Veteran. In addition, he was a devout member of St. Genevieve Catholic Church.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He enjoyed fixing things around him and making creative pieces of art. His favorite foods included frijoles con Chile verde and Anita’s soaps.
Ricardo is survived by his brother Bernardo Lopez; his children Bertha Barrio, Ana Jimenez and Javier Lopez; 18 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Anastasio and Maria Lopez; his wife Jenny A. Lopez; son Ricardo Lopez Jr., son in-law Angel R. Barrio; three brothers; three sisters; a grandson and one great-grandson.
The family would like to thank Cha-Cha for all you have done taking care of dad. You are a Godsend and we appreciate and love you very much.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 9:30 AM Thursday, February 3, 2022 at St. Genevieve Catholic Church, 100 N. Espina Street where the Memorial Mass will be celebrated immediately thereafter. Inurnment of cremains will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho Avenue.
