Richard T. Achenbach, 87, of West Bangor, passed away, Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hecktown Oaks Campus.  He was the husband of Rosemary (Palma) Achenbach, together they celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary, July 7, 2024. 


Born in Easton, December 11, 1937, he was the son of the late Thomas and Anna Mae (Fleishman) Achenbach. 


Richard was a 1955 graduate of Nazareth High School and a 1961 graduate of Lehigh University.  He also served in the Army Reserves. 


He was a self-employed contractor for 40 years, operating Achenbach Building and Remodeling. 


He was a member of St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church, West Bangor and bowled in the Blue Valley Men’s Bowling League. 


In addition to his wife Rosemary, he is survived by two sons, Rick Achenbach and his wife Kelley of Meredith, NH and Chadwick Achenbach and his wife Lisa of Norfolk, CT, and five grandchildren, Derek Achenbach, Greta Achenbach, Estelle Achenbach, Luciano Bertelli-Achenbach, and Camille Russo. 


He was preceded in death by two sons, Scott and Clifford Achenbach, and a sister, Alice Slutter. 


A Celebration of Life will be held, Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 11 AM at St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church, 1440 Verona Drive, Pen Argyl, (West Bangor).  There will be a visitation, Friday March 21, 2025 beginning at 6 PM until 8 PM at the Ruggiero Funeral Home, LLC, 126 E. Pennsylvania Avenue, Pen Argyl, and Saturday beginning at 10 AM until time of services at the church.
