Richard Dennis Alcott, age 56, of Dyer, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2025.  Beloved husband of Cristal Alcott, nee Garcia. Loving father of Luke Alcott, Taylor Alcott, Jake Alcott, and Trevor Trusty.  Dear brother of Michael Alcott, John Alcott, William Alcott, and the late Daniel Alcott.  Dear son of Joyce and the late Gerald Alcott.  Richard was loved by many and will be dearly missed.  


Memorial visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, August 19, 2025 from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30& Pleasant Springs Ln.), Dyer, IN.  Memorial contributions may be given to Northwestern Medicine Lupus Program (https://www.nm.org/about-us/foundation/donations).

I grew up with Richie and our families have always been close friends. We had many great times over the years and we are heartbroken as well as many others with this sad news. Our deepest condolences to Joyce and the Alcott family and extended family and we pray they all can find some peace knowing that Richie was loved and cherished by too many people to count. He was a great spirit and family man that all should be proud to have known him. Rest My Friend!

We are heartbroken with the loss of Richie, and will hold tight to the many years of memories we all shared together. Our sincere condolences to Joyce and the entire Alcott family. May you find solace during this difficult time.

Rich was a great person who loved his family and would do anything for anybody. He would do anything for his kids and was very proud of them. RIP my friend!
