Richard W. "Sandman" Ambrose, 71, of Harrisburg, PA, formerly of Pen Argyl, PA, passed away Sunday, April 20th, at the VA Medical Center, 423 E. 23rd Street, NYC, NY. Born: Richard was born in Pen Argyl, PA on December 31, 1942, a son of the late Griffith and Bernice (Jeffrey) Ambrose. Personal: Richard was employed as a machinist at Crayola in Forks Twp., PA, until retiring in 2003. He was a graduate of Pen Argyl High School. Richard served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. Memberships: Richard was a life member of the VFW and a member of the VNV Motorcycle Club. Survivors: Richard is survived by a daughter, Alesha Ambrose, of Harrisburg, and two sons, Wayne R. Ambrose, husband of Philip Gramley, of Harrisburg; and Scott A. Ambrose, husband of Chris, and two grandsons, Asher and Ronin Ambrose, of Huntsville, AL. Services: Memorial Services will be announced at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the James B. Gaffney Funeral Home, Pen Argyl, PA. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors Project, PO BOX 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
