Richard D. Anderson, Jr. passed away peacefully at home from battling a long illness. He was born Sept. 28, 1958, in Birmingham, AL to Richard D. and Mary Louise (Condon) Anderson. He was a 1976 graduate of Shades Valley High School and attended Jefferson State College. He married Patsy (Hobbs) Anderson in May of 2000 in Gatlinburg, TN. He co-owned two Birmingham Industrial companies, Anderson Hughes Industrial and Valley of Birmingham Corp. He was a dedicated worker all his working career. He knew how to take care of his customers with his in-depth knowledge, dedication, and excellent customer service. He was an excellent left-handed pitcher in his younger years and loved going to Hoover Park. Growing up, he loved going to the lake with family; swimming, skiing, and just being together. A lot of great memories were made in his life on the lake and at the beach. He also was an avid hunter and loved cooking for all his hunting buddies. And most importantly, he was a die-hard Auburn fan, he bled orange and blue. Richard truly lived life to it's fullest through simple pleasures, spending time with his friends, family, his son, Trey, and beloved wife, Patsy. Richard fought hard to live these past few years, and especially these past few months. But now he is in Heaven with Jesus and his beloved dad and son, Trey. He preceded in death by his son; Trey Anderson; and father, Richard D. Anderson Sr. He is survived by his loving wife, Patsy Hobbs Anderson; mother, Mary Louise Anderson; brother, David Anderson (Ritchie); and many loving relatives and friends. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Hoover, AL. The Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 am. Interment will immediately follow at Jefferson-Memorial Gardens South. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Kidney Foundation.

Not sure what to say?

I am so sorry to hear of Richards passing. We were in school together at O. G. Gresham Junior High and at SV. I knew David more than Richard but I did know him. To the entire Anderson family I would like to extend deepest condolences from the Remson family. David, Matt, Paul, Joel and Missy Remson Donaldson. Rest In Peace friend.

I just learned the news of Richard's passing. I knew Richard since we met at Jacksonville State University for college in Sept. 1976, we dated for 3 years and were in a horrific car accident together when he visited me and my family in Pittsburgh during Christmas break in 1977 on our way back to Jacksonville heading to the Pgh. airport. He was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity at JSU as well then. Even though we went and led separate lives I will always remember what a wonderful and...

I met Richard over 19 years ago when we both moved into the new townhomes. He was a good neighbor and one of my oldest friends. He will be missed.

To the family...we loved Richard and will never forget the years he traveled with me when I worked with him at Anderson Hughes. We hurt for you all but are glad he's no longer suffering. John and Jo Anna Kitchen.

Patsy, I am so sorry for the loss of Richard and you have my deepest sympathies. He was a very pleasant man and I know that you will miss him dearly. I am sure your friends and family will help you through this difficult time.

I offer my condolences for the loss of Mr. Anderson. May the God of peace grant you comfort during this difficult time.
