Not sure what to say?

Dr. Bailey was involved in many things and influential in many lives, above all he was such a cool guy. An engaging, interesting, informative and thoughtful man but also a sincere human being and inspiration. I first met him as he sat silently smiling on a graduate speaker selection committee, diligently taking notes. I was very nervous and his smile and nods were very encouraging. Our next encounter was at the commencement ceremony at WCC in 2001, where I was a speaker, one of the best days...

We are wishing Julia, Oceana, and the entire group of family and friends, healing. One can only imagine what a tough time this must be. Please accept our deepest sympathies. You are in our thoughts (and have friends just up the road if you are in need).

A voice from the past - Elizabeth & Lloyd Kitchens from Hillside Terrace. Remembering you as you visited RIchard's mom so faithfully & brought sunshine to her in her last days. Now may God's sunshine be in your hearts as you morn the loss of your loved one, Richard. May God bless you all in this difficult time.

Dear Julia, Oceana, and family:
Richard was so supportive of me as a faculty member at Washtenaw Community College during difficult times. I still cherish the lovely letter of support he sent to me years ago. In addition, I recall his fine work at St. Clare's when we were there.

This is a temendous loss to so many. Charles and I send our deepest sympathy.

I grew up across the street from Mr. Bailey. From a small child to a grown woman, I revered him. His losses from decades past broke my heart. And now, it is broken once again.

You know you've lived a Godly life and touched many when the Bishop presides at your funeral.

My sincere sympathy to Julia & family. Such a wonderful person to have walked this earth.

My sympathies to Julia and the family. I live in New Mexico now but I treasure the memories of Richard from my time at St. Claire's.

I'm shocked at the news that such a vital man is gone. Neighbor and colleague on SACUA, Dick was our intellectual leader and always a major scholarly contributor to University life. Bob Green, Ann Arbor.
