Richard A Bard

Remembering Richard Bard Jr. (1921-2010), one of my Bard cousins and another descendant of Richard and Catharine (Poe) Bard of Pennsylvania, my 3rd-great-grandparents.

Rest in Peace.

To the family of Richard Bard Jr.: Please accept my condolences on the passing of Dick Bard in Spokane, Wash. We were both descended from Richard Bard of Pennsylvania, who died in 1799, and although we never met, we were fourth cousins. My interest in Bard family genealogy took me to Port Hueneme, Calif., in the 1990s to visit the Bard Mansion, former home of U.S. Sen. Thomas R. Bard of California. I had the pleasure of having lunch there. I also visited the Richard Bard Elementary School,...

Dear Sue & Jill,
Very sorry to hear about your dad. He wrote to me occasionally, and often sent various genealogy related items to me. I know he loved all of you...

And I know he was dedicated to the preservation of Bard Family information. The last time I communicated with him, he was scanning Sen. Thomas Robert Bard's annotated Bard Book and other Bard Family documents.

Please contact me when you can, and let me know if he had a disc or anything that you would...

Dear Sue, Jill & families, I am so sorry to hear about your Dad's passing. I was in Camarillo for 2 weeks and happened to read the Star. My Dad was very ill, and I had come down to be with him. He passed away on April 17. Amazing that their passings were so close together. Well, now our parents can all be together once again. I will always remember our fun times, Susie, and especially our vacation to your home in Montana. Much love, Julie Kissee

Dear Margaret, Very sorry about Dick's passing. If Dick was anything like your Dad he must have been a great person. I do remember Archie, yourself(of Course) and all the good times us kids had at the home place. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
If you get a chance get the book ME'n PAUL and OLD HUENEME by Ted Moranda. Dickie is mentioned several times and your Dad & Grandfather a lot.

While I did not personally know Dick as he was in school considerably ahead of me, I did attend Hueneme Grammar School in the late 30's with his sister, Margeret. She had beautiful long red hair and was a very smart classmate. Blessings and my sincere condolences to the entire Bard family.

From so very long ago, I well remember Dick and all the Bard Family with so many happy memories.
