A kind-hearted man with integrity and the Spirit of a warrior- that is how I remember Rick. I met him years ago, through his younger sister- whom I became life-long friends with at the age of fifteen. I had the privilege, more than once, to attend family dinners and events with the Bards. Our deepest sympathy to Ricks family and friends. He held a special place in our lives. I was one of Ricks roommates during our entire four years at Notre Dame. We had the same major and attended nearly all classes together. When my draft lottery came up number one, Rick was instrumental in my joining Air Force ROTC. We shared many road trips, several wilderness canoeing adventures and lots and lots of great parties. Rick was always the life of any party.
