Not sure what to say?

Richard was my mentor, as he was to so many, and always seemed to have the perfect thing to say when I wasn't seeing things quite clearly. But beyond the humble wisdom was such a deeply loving and free spirit, just being in his presence taught me more than any words could. Thank you Richard, I can still feel that presence with me and within me.

Was great to know you Richard. I used to love talking to you about the dogs and hearing about the shows. I remember you said this would be the last time you went up to NY for the show. Last time at Mountain group in the Holy Cross cafeteria I was getting a chicken salad sandwich and you said'..my mother told me never to buy chickensalad out,you never know what's in it!!'
I'll miss you.
Say hello to Princess and all the dogs.

I met Richard while showing other breeds in the mid 70's and was always in awe of his warmth and professionalism. When I started breeding and showing Toy Poodles he finished my first home-bred champion. "A Life Well Lived" would certainly be a suitable epitaph for such a beautiful spirit! My deepest sympathy and prayers for Blaire.

Richard had the most wonderfully eloquent way of speaking with his warm, gentle voice. He evoked true words of wisdom. I'm so grateful to have known him. I loved talking to him about the dog show circuit as I own two Boxers and owned a Champion myself. Less than a week before his passing, he gave me a ticket stub from the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. I value his gift a great deal. You are sorely missed, Richard!

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

My Friend Richard...I was just laughing with you about a shared memory...Now you are gone too...My condolences to those who grieve...My gratitude for having known and been his friend

Judge Bauer was so kind to me and gave my dog Best of Winners. It was two years ago, I was a very novice exhibitor and he was so nice. I learned about Take the Lead from him. I sure wanted to have the joy of showing to him again. He will be missed.

I have had the honor and pleasure of calling Richard a friend for the past 10 years. He helped me to grow as a person both mentally and spiritually. Thanks to Richard I have learned to appreciate the improtance of humility and to accept life on life's terms. I will miss him more than words can express.

Our relationship started out with Richard as "my dog handler" for many years. But after he retired, he became just "Richard, my friend". I will miss his advice, his sincerity and his wonderful sense of humor. He was indeed, "one of a kind " and I am a better person for having known him.
