Proud father and loving husband, Rick was a man of many passions and talents. He lived a life full of adventure, curiosity and love. Rick was an avid fisherman, especially for salmon and steelhead, preferring to use a fly if possible. He was a dedicated hunter of both feather and fur, a mushroom...

Not sure what to say?

Grew up in Auburn, Wa with Rick both at school and church (although he wouldn´t admit to Auburn). How wonderful he then found you Jill years later to enjoy a wonderful albeit too short life with. You both enriched each other world in so many ways. Very glad you and Rick were able to visit me in Cabo. Wish it would happen again. Love and hugs every day to you.

I met Rick and Jill through my bride, Melissa, who worked with them at Epitope in the 90´s. We shared a passion of the outdoors, and I was fortunate when Rick and Jill asked me to join them on the Denali expedition in 1993. While training with them for that climb, I had the opportunity to get to know them both quite well as we shared our adventures. Jill, I am so sorry for your loss. I knew you and Rick when we were all at OHSU, when I was doing my PhD training and Rick was a postdoc in the nextdoor lab. I lost my husband, David, two years ago, so I know what you are going through. Rick was an awesome guy and I'm sure you had a wonderful life together. Take care of yourself and cherish your memories. I met Rick when he joined the Mount Bachelor National Ski Patrol. We spent a lot of time together that first winter, training on the mountain. Despite conditions that were often trying, Rick always had something positive to say and searched for something new to learn. His quick wit, ready smile, and infectious laugh were a blessing. He carried more than his own weight, couldn't tolerate pettiness, and always kept a group moving ahead. I imagine Rick was a significant asset for every...

We have wonderful memories of our time spent together with Rick and Jill at Fall River. Rick would always give the warmest welcome and loved cooking and entertaining guests, we especially enjoyed his venison burgers and evenings spent on the deck. Rick & Jill visited my parents in Caerphilly, Wales, UK a few years later and visited Caerphilly Castle along with climbing the highest peak in South Wales; Pen Y Fan. We were so grateful that a few years later Rick & Jill made the trip to Chepstow,...
