I knew Dickie from when he was 11 and I was 10. My grandma would babysit for their family when his parents (best friends of my parents)
went on vacation. I would go with her and have fun with Candy but even more fun with Dickie because I was such a tomboy. I remember how much fun we had and loved all his amazing collections of bottle caps, cards, etc. etc. I also had fun visiting Hayden Lake. Dick Bingham was a great guy and a close friend of mine for our entire lives. He was my next-door neighbor growing up, and we got in all sorts of mischief both in Spokane and at our summer homes at Hayden Lake.
That is where we learned to play golf. It wasn't until he was in his 40s that Dick really started to excel at the game, becoming an outstanding senior golfer. My father was Dick's dentist, and Dad always marveled at the fact that even with his unusually limited diet, Dick's teeth...
