Carl and I grew up together beginning as fourteen year old teenagers in southwest Portland. We played sports together and enjoyed life to it's fullest. Carl was an 135 lbs. guard on our high school football team. He was pound for pound one of the toughest guys I knew with tremendous courage.
We also worked several jobs together prior to the time he became an independent trucker. Hands down, he was one of the hardest working guys I've had the pleasure of working with.

Carl will always have a special place in my heart. I worked with him at the Aloha Sewage Treatment Plant thirty some years ago. It was an adventure, to say the least!
