Plant a Tree & Name a Star

My deepest to condolences to Dick's sister and friends. I have the pleasure of being his neighbor - such a wonderful guy. He took great pride in his home and made it a showplace on our street. He always had a kind word and he will be greatly missed by all who were lucky to know him.

I knew Dick when we both worked at The Post Standard/Advance. He was a true gentleman and a strong contributor toward quality journalism that The Post standard and Syracuse.com put forth. My condolences to his family and friends.

I knew Dick from the Onondaga Ski Club. He was such a kind, gentle and knowledgeable man. His recent safari explains why he was not on our last ski trip. I enjoyed his company. He will be missed.

I was saddened to hear of Dick's passing. He will surely be missed by all who knew him. I moved from Syracuse to California in 1986 but I would often think of him. I remember him as a quiet man and he was very kind. He was one of the founding members of Photovisions, a photographers cooperative gallery on Hanover Square in Syracuse. As a real do-er in our group he had a way of getting things done and providing a sense of balance to a very diverse group of artists. Condolences to family,...

Very sorry to see this wonderful man has passed way too soon. Prayers with your friends, family and newspaper buddies. We will miss you.

Cindy, Deep Condolences to you and family and friends at the untimely loss of your brother. May he Rest in Peace! Hugs to you.

A good friend and co-worker who will be greatly missed - all my sympathy to his family, from Dave Lassman

It´s with profound sadness that I note the passing of multitalented photographer, athlete and former colleague Dick Blume. Family and friends, I´m sure, a justifiably proud of the soft-spoken man did credit to all of his thousands of photo assignments over a 42-year career. Incredibly easy to work with, even in demanding deadline situations, Dick always delivered the goods for ink-stained editors and reporters. He was a joy, and extremely humble about his many epic cycling and skiing...
