I was telling my wife some stories of my early years at Shanley & Fisher this evening when I told her that on February 4, 1969, my first day as a law clerk there, I met Richard Brennan in the library at 570 Broad Street. I was a 25 year old second year student at Rutgers Law School with a pregnant wife and little money who had been merifully hired by Frank Bate Esq. for $5.00 per hour as, I think, the first S&F law clerk ever.
