Not sure what to say?

I was telling my wife some stories of my early years at Shanley & Fisher this evening when I told her that on February 4, 1969, my first day as a law clerk there, I met Richard Brennan in the library at 570 Broad Street. I was a 25 year old second year student at Rutgers Law School with a pregnant wife and little money who had been merifully hired by Frank Bate Esq. for $5.00 per hour as, I think, the first S&F law clerk ever. Richard looked at me and, without a pause, said "FRESH MEAT!" ...

Single Memorial Tree

Dear Pam and family- Anne and I extend our sympathy to all of Dick's loved ones. Though neighbors for many years, we were unaware of his passing. Dick always was ready to offer a friendly greeting whenever we passed his house. May he rest in peace!

I met Dick in my Freshman year at Seton Hall University in 1960. He was a Junior and we were both ROTC cadets. Dick was a dedicated cadet, member of Pershing Rifles and a Distinguished Military Student and Graduate. In September, 1964 I joined Dick at Seton Hall Law School. His lifetime of service and accomplishments reflect the special. extraordinary and unique nature of our class, which helped create. He had brilliant mind and sense of humor. We were fortunate to have him as our class....

I am very sorry for your loss. Please remember that God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted. (Matthew 5:4) kindest of thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

What a wonderful guy and great lawyer. As a young lawyer I conducted my first Medical Staff hearing for St Mary's Hospital with Dick on the other side. I was shaking in my boots. He put me through the paces ,but later we became great friends at McElroy. A life well lived. We will miss him. All the best to the family.

Brilliant, beloved, talented, generous. He lit up every room he entered. "Hello, Junior" he greeted me with a broad grin. A pleasure to know.

I met Dick in August 1963 I was a Dentist at Ft Bragg NC I was standing at my dental chair, he came and introduced himself. That led to a friendship. We played golf together often and enjoyed many fun times, He had a great sense of humor. He was probably the most decent honest man I ever met. My condolences to his family. I will think of all the fun times we had and cherish them

Dick had significant impact on Seton Hall Law in innumerable ways, including our continued presence in Newark. We were better because of his engagement, and his daughters' presence. Thank you Brennan family for establishing an endowed scholarship. Dick will have a legacy that lasts in perpetuity -- helping others.
