Richard Matthew "Dick" Burwell

Susan, I just saw the notice for Dick in Wesleyan's magazine. I have a lasting memory of Dick. I grew up at 290 Montclair just down the street from your house. One time Dick was visiting you, maybe in the early 60's, and all of us neighborhoods kids knew of Dick's baseball prowess - I think he might have been pitching in the minor leagues then. We all went over to your house and Dick came out and threw pop-ups to us. Of course none of us had ever seen a ball thrown so high in our lives! Over...

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived. I grew up knowing the Burwell´s and my heart and prayers go out to Sue, Bob and Tom.

Dick was a kind and generous man. He made MVD's meeting room available to the local kennel club that I belonged to at no charge. I have always remembered that over the years, because it helped get our club off the ground. RIP Dick Burwell. Sincere condolences to the family.
