I was Touch's best friend in his first (of three!) tours in the Army in Viet Nam. Although he was trained as a Signal Corpsmen, he became an acting Sergeant at age 19 and became our Mess Sergeant. We smoked many pipes together. I visited him in South Dayton NY when I got back from Viet Nam in October 1968, and he visited me in Berkeley CA on his way home from his second tour.
