Daises are yellow, lilies are white. When Dick Butkus hit you, it was often good night. Dick was Chicago through & through. Born & raised in the blue collar, second city. He went to the University of Illinois, an All-American for sure. Then on to play for "Pappa" Halas's Chicago Bears. Butkus was a star from the get. He only lasted nine years due to his hundreds of nasty hits, that left his knees torn & tattered. Dick had a second life as a family man first, and on to Hollywood, no less. He...

Devastated. Talked to 51 two days before he was taken from us. Proud to have been the first contact regarding the start of The Butkus Award and assist in getting the award under the control of the family. So many great moments and conversations with 51. Wonderful family that Dick adored. A great family man, wonderful friend and man of principal. I am blessed to have been around him for the last 38+ years. Steve Finley

36 year friendship, will never forget. 51 taught me life lessons So many rounds of golf Friendship that can never be Replaced, a great man & Christian He was more of a legend of life Than football My heart will be heavy for a long Time.
