I knew Richard Byrd for at least 40 plus years....He was a wonderful , caring , man who loved his wife and children and everyone else he met...I you didn"t like Richard Byrd then there was something bad wrong with you...I happen to be a very close friend of his son Doug who is like a brother to me and I love him very much...This is how I became to know Richard who was always at our sporting events...He will be sadly missed and my heart goes out to his family whom I have also known for many...

I am so sorry to learn about Mr. Byrd. He was one of the first people I met when I began working for the Cooperative Extension Service and over the course of conversations, I learned (not mentioned before) that he went to work for the FBI in DC at the same time I did and we even lived our early training days at the same facility off Dupont Circle.
