Not sure what to say?

Judy and Chris. I just heard about Rich, I am so very sorry. My prayers are with you all.

Praying for you and your family Judy. Will Smith

Coach Chavis was a good Man, Teacher and Coach. I played Water Polo and Swam for Richard in the early Eighties along with seeing him in the water at Tarantulas and Main Street Beach (fellow surfers know the spots) on many occasions/back in the day. Many fond memories of Coach Chavis. He will be missed!

Chavis, damn , so sad , I´m Gary , a Jalama local for 45 years, have known and been around him and all the Santa Maria locals since. He was always smiling , happy and friendly guy ,was always nice to see him with Fred and the crew ! Can´t forget his smile , he´ll be missed, was just part of the tribe , my heartfelt thoughts to his family - sucks another good guy gone , rest in peace my friend!

Very sorry to hear of Coach Chavis' passing. I have fond memoies of him coaching our swim and water polo teams. He was also great at weaving in "life lessons" to us young knuckleheads,,, which I still appreciate today. Kurt Klucker ERHS '81

Our condolences to the Chavis family. Rich was a great polo coach and teacher. We enjoyed his recent stories at Costco and Albertsons. He will be missed. Shaughn and Suzette Wolfcale. ERHS Class of 77 and 80.

My Condolences to the entire Chavis Family. I wish you peace and comfort. Richard will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was a real gentleman and a true friend.
