Not sure what to say?

Fra' Richard Cheffins was for several years Librarian of the British Association of the Order of Malta, and a highly respected Professed Knight in Perpetual Vows. R.I.P.

My only recollections of Richard go back a very long way when we were at Belmont Abbey School together. Richard was an enthusiastic member of the dramatic society and I recall that he made a significant contribution to the Belmont equivalent of 'Footlights' which was presented to the school at the end of each Christmas term.
He also managed to attend last October the 150 year celebration of the founding of Belmont Abbey.
Richard Bale

My daughters and I lived next door to Richard for seven years up until the end of last year. He was a very private person, with great dignity, and his knowledge knew no ends when it came to the history of the Ashburnham Triangle, and London. We are now living in Australia, so it is with regret that we could not attend his mass today. Thank you Bill for posting the photo of Richard. I was glad to be able to show my daughters, for whom he always had a smile for. Our sympathy to his family.

I had been Richard's colleague for only one year, 11 years ago but I still remember him: he was a very special person. All my sympathy to his family.
Dr R Bartoli

As a member of the same school house as Richard I offer my condolences to his family.

Richard Cheffins was for 20 years (1990-2010) Secretary of the Violet Needham Society, and only retired last year for health reasons. He was a constant attender at meetings, and often, as secretary, the first contact enquirers had with the Society. We shall miss him sadly.
Hilary Clare, Chairman The Violet Needham Society.
