Not sure what to say?

Uncle Dick you will always be remembered. We all leave our mark on this world when we leave. You were kind and loving and absolutely hilarious. I know you have touched the lives of many, most importantly your family. You will forever be in our hearts.

The world changed forever when Dick "Dixie" Cichon passed. I continue to remember the leadership and friendship he provided to so many people in GRPD Dispatch. When the crap was hitting the fan, you could always count on Dick to be there. We are all better people for having known Dick!

Dick Cichon was one of my supervisors when I started in dispatch. His standards were high and he expected the rest of us to perform with the same standards. Some of my other former coworkers have mentioned his wisdom and knowledge and I have to agree with them. There wasn't a question I couldn't ask Dick that he wouldn't be able to answer. I even bothered him a couple of times after he retired to ask him things and he didn't have a problem responding. That was the kind of person he was.

I worked with Dick Cichon for almost 30 years. Some of my fondest memories are from my early years on third shift with Dick as the supervisor. He had great wisdom and wit and always made me want to give my very best effort. He provided me with many of the tools I needed to survive a career in public safety. I will miss his razor sharp retorts and keen random observations.

You were always such a funny guy and knew how to make people laugh. I know you’re in a better place now watching over everyone from Heaven. You’re very loved and will be missed.

Sad to hear of the passing of my friend Dick Cichon. My wife Liz and I both worked with him at the Grand Rapids Police Department. Dick and I worked in the dispatch office together for 31 years. He was one of my mentors at the police department and taught me a lot about what it took to do the job correctly.

What do I remember most about Dick. Our mutual love of music (Eric Burdon and the Animals), love of sports (yes, the Detroit Lions), and our mutual interest in radio and...

Carol, Lori and Eric so sorry to hear about Dick. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We remember all the get togethers after Sts. Pete’s Men’s Softball games. He will be truly missed.
