Not sure what to say?

Met Mr Clapp several times. He was the father of my very good Friend, Skip Clapp. Mr Clap was brilliant, but he also was a very, very kind and generous person. This old world was a better place for having him in it.

He was one of the first specialists – then called “Sanitarians” - to have joined the PHS Commissioned Corps. That name caught my eye & as I read on things fell into place. He was Director of the USPHS School in Columbus, Ga. in the fall of 1952. I was there as a newly hired Sanitarian for the Macon-Bibb Co., Ga. Health Dept. It was a good course & Dick made it interesting & fun. I have remembered him fondly over the years. I hope his life was as good as it was long.

DICK CLAPP WAS SUPREME ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST FOR THE CDC. AN EXCELLENT LEADER, TEACHER AND ALL-AROUND HUMAN BEING. IT WAS AN HONOR TO HAVE WORKED FOR HIM IN THE U.S. PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE. TO SONS SKIP AND MIKE- WE'LL ALL MISS DICK- HE WAS TRULY AN OUTSTANDING PERSON IN ALL THAT HE DID. JIM STEWART, ATLANTA, GA.

My condolence to the Clapp family.

Mr. Clapp was a remarkable strong man and true to Psalm 90:10 "The span of our life is 70 years, or 80 if one is especially strong or because of special mightiness from GOD.
