Douglass Edgerley & Bessom Funeral Home Obituary

Richard Paul Conboy Jr, of Reading MA passed away peacefully on June 25th, 2018 after many years of health challenges.  He was the dearly loved husband of Petra L. Conboy (Vachon) and proud father of Sean R. and Paul M. Conboy, both of Virginia.  Son of the late Richard P. Conboy Sr. and Nancy A. Conboy (Pinto); brother of: Suzanne Conboy of North Andover MA, Dianne Anzivino of Kingston MA, Timothy Conboy of North Brunswick NJ, Shawn Conboy of Parkland FL, Colleen Conboy of West Roxbury MA, Maureen Conboy-DePasquale of Newton MA, Daniel Conboy of Easton MA, Allison Conboy of Salem MA, Nancy-Jean Hill of Marblehead MA, Thomas Conboy of Woodbridge VA, Katherine Murphy of Scituate MA.  Also survived by his many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.  The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Richard’s team of doctors at Brigham & Women’s Hospital.  Their extraordinary care and teamwork helped Rick live out his final years on his own terms.  We are grateful for their help and compassion.  A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday June 28 at the Church of the Good Shepherd 95 Chute St. Reading at 11:00AM.  Burial is private.  Visiting hours will be Wednesday June 27 at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.), Reading from 4:00-8:00PM.  I lieu of flowers – and in recognition of his love of languages and passion for helping others -remembrances can be made to English at Large where Richard enjoyed tutoring during his retirement.   English at Large 800 West Cummings Park Suite 5550 Woburn, MA 01801.  For directions and on line guest book visit johnbdouglassfuneralhome.com

Not sure what to say?

So sorry to just now finding out about Richard's passing. I had been reviewing endeavors he had listed in his "Classmates" profile page. I was even at the point of messaging him via that site and decided to Google his name first, which to my surprise led me here to Richard's obituary. Richard listed dozens and dozens of the things he did since high school and it made me feel wonderful for him. I was one grade ahead of Richard at Our Lady's. I have my Yearbook in front of me now that...

So sorry to hear of the loss of your loved one. May the God and father who binds up the broken-hearted comfort and strengthen all those who mourn sustain the family and friends during this difficult time of grief. My sincere condolences to the family and friends. (Isaiah 61:1,2).

Dear Conboy Family,

I am so sorry for your loss. Please know you are in my daily thoughts and prayers.

"Still waters run deep" That is one of the many memories I have of Rick, Always thoughtful and never loud or boisterous. Although he was always quick to brag about his boys and loving wife. What fond memories I have of talking with him about Boy Scouts and life in general. A kind gentle man! I honor his life and grieve for your loss.

Dear Conboy Family-
We are so very sorry for your loss! Please know you are all in our thoughts and prayers.
