Doug and I were both kids, way back when, in 1968 when we both worked at KATU
Television in Portland. Later in life, we re-discovered each other as sailors and sail boaters; the friendship picked up where it left off. Doug was a friend as well as a shipmate and will be missed.

Doug was a generous and open person. I knew him about 50 years ago, when he would hang out at some of the watering holes i frequented. My girl friend at the time was very skeptical about television news and advertising, and Doug arranged for us to visit KATU and watch a live broadcast, explaining how the process worked. I think her views were modified by his interest and helpfulness. Sorry to see him go, and very sorry we didn't remain in touch.

What I remember most about Doug was his gentle spirit and the kindness he always displayed. Many thoughts are with you all. The love and dedication to his care is inspiring and shows what an amazing family you are! May Doug be at peace and I pray for strength for you all. May God be with you.

To Michele and the Crombie family: Iwas a freshman with Doug at PSU in the 1961-62 school year. I have enjoyed his friendship for over 50 years and will miss him a lot Sincerely Bill Coulson.
