Dick was a wonderful role model for me as a teacher, thesis adviser, and co-researcher. His early contributions to humanizing the psychological assessment process helped break new ground, and presaged his superb work in cross-cultural assessment. A great sense of humor was just one of the many qualities that connected him so well with others. Many will miss him. My condolences to his family and close friends.

Dick was a very special mentor. He was both a genius and a great guy. With much love and great
respect.

The field of psychology owes much to Dr. Dana, who persisted in research and integration of diversity into our work and thinking, in a field that was too often blind to context, culture, and race.

Dr. Dana was my advisor for my master's thesis in the 1980's, and I had his class in personality assessment. I appreciated his keen intellect, his expertise in personality and in cultural issues in assessment, and his kindness to students. It was a privilege to learn from him. So sorry for your loss.
