I would've been to the service if I had known.
My heart aches for you as I know you were very much in love with each other.

What can I say that others haven't said?

I am so sorry to hear about Rich. I did not know until after the funeral. Sorry I was not there. You are in my heart and prayers. During this most difficult time, please know I am sincere when I say "call if you need anything". There will be rocky roads ahead and now is the time to tap into family and friends. God bless you.
