Dick always encouraged me in doing the best job I could do and I learned that work could be enjoyable if you looked for it. I saw Dick enjoy his job and how he worked with people taught me so very much how to deal with people. I will always remember Dick telling me that I was a diamond in a dung heap which always made me feel special. I am sure he told others the same but hearing it from Dick you felt appreciated. I have only the fondest memories of working with Dick. I am from Southwestern Michigan and probably passed him on the street at some time. A 3rd grade field trip to Cook in 1974 comes to mind.
