RIP Skytrooper. Airborne All The Way!

Dr Richard E. Eckert, Colonel (Ret) USA

Dad, I miss you.

Captain Eckert, CO, Delta Company, 2d Wolfhounds, 25th Inf Div, July 1968, Hoc Mon, Vietnam.

He was my CO in Vietnam, the best officer I ever had. Great leader. Everyone thought he was going to be a general, but a bullet got in the way. My book about the war tells this story too. It was nominated as best historical fiction of 2012 by the Military Writers Society of America. Traces of a Lost War on Amazon.com.

My condolences to those aching hearts longing for his smile, his laugh and his touch, know that his love is in you and forever. A fine example of life well lived.

Dear Jane and Family, our deepest sympathy on the loss of such a wonderful husband, father and devoted family member. Our prayers are with you and yours at this time. sincerely, the Potocik Family

Dear Jane and family, I had the priviledge of working with Dr. Eckert many times over the past 8 years @ Occupational Health in South Richmond County. After reading his obituary and attending his funeral today, I am just beginning to comprehend what a Godsend he was to us all....I just thought I knew him before, but I only knew a tiny, tiny piece of him. How incredibly blessed you all were to call him husband, father, grandfather. How blessed we were to call him friend; however, he was...

Dear Jane, Ellen and I are so very saddened to hear about Dick. I have always credited Dick for being a major part of my training in Pediatrics, and keeping me on track through my first 2 years at Fitzsimons. I always think of Dick as a role model of what excellence in medicine should be, but it is also obvious that he is what a man should be in all aspects of life. I will never forget how you would feed us when we were on call together, as if being on call with Dick was not reward...

Dick will always be remembered as top of the class of 1959-Carlisle high School. My prayers are with his wonderful family.

Dr. Eckert will truly be missed. My prayers are with you all during your loss.
