ELKINS, RICHARD E. "DICK" Age 84, a resident of Albuquerque, went to be with the Lord Saturday, April 21, 2012. He is survived by his wife, Agnes C. Elkins of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Kathleen E Coleman and husband, James, of Hockessin, DE; sons, Thomas E Elkins and wife, Teresa of Durango, Mexico; and Daniel R Elkins and wife, Anne of Denver, CO; brother, William McIver Lamb of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Dan Coleman and wife, Barbie; John Coleman and wife, Katie; Lucas Elkins; Andrew Elkins; Kara Lockwood and husband Alex; and Simon Elkins; great-granddaughter, Haley Jane Coleman; and many other family and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty, and his parents, Ewell Elroy and Margaret Genevieve Elkins. He served in the United States Navy at the end of WWII. He was a missionary linguist with Wycliffe Bible Translators. Richard was a member of Grace Church and Alameda Bible Church. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 28, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at Grace Church, 6901 San Antonio Dr NE. Memorial contributions may be made to Wycliffe Bible Translators, PO Box 628200, Orlando, FL 32862, for the publishing of the Western Bukidnon Manobo Old Testament.

I just finished reading Time and Again by Richard and Agnes Elkins and thru a on-line search , thought that Richard now lived in Snohomish Washington. So I have spent a few days trying to locate a Richard Elkins at age 92. So tonight I found this online site that speaks of his memorial service in New Mexico. I would appreciate, actually love to make some contact with his new wife or children. My father, Forrest Johnson, visited their ministry in the 50,s and I very much enjoyed the book...

One of the greatest gifts that a person can give is to leave a part of themselves in the students they teach...they are disciples. A great teacher, as Dr. Elkins was, leaves years of students that think of him always and go back to quote many of the things, across life, that they learned from that person.

Nothing is a memorial to a person more than to have their teachings live on in the students. He was a truly great teacher and I will never forget the time we spent at...
