Richard "Dick" Elston

I was sad to hear about Dick's passing recently. Because of circumstances currently, I was not able to attend Dick's funeral services. I was told by my brother Jim how beautiful it was. The Elston's and Marchert's go back 80 some years. Back when Chuck Elston was dating my sister Norma and Dick and my brother Fred were starting their loyal friendship. Was deeply saddened to learn of Dick's passing. Our families go back more than 80 years together. Dick and my oldest brother Fred were best friends and enlisted in the Marine Corps together as they did everything else together throughout grade school, high school and beyond. Fred was killed in the Korean War in 1952. A loss that I know was felt by Dick as much as the rest of our family. My dear and long time friend was one of the finest gentlemen I ever knew. We shared alot of range time together and enjoyable trips down to Louisville, Kentucky. We shared a collector's passion. He was always a very welcome guest in our home. He had a mesmerizing affect on our dogs who recognized his car as soon as he pulled into our driveway.
