Not sure what to say?

I only met Richard once.... at his Sister's Martha's place in Boulder. I met Martha when we were both incoming newbies at Lake Forest College, She was a beloved Friend from then to her Death. I would love anyone who knew Martha to get in touch with me. Thank you. :) I've left my email with this notice.

I have fond memories of Ely when I worked with him at Rainier Beach High School. He believed in his students and always displayed eagerness and support to help all of his students! Every year we took kids (boys and girls) to the trades fair at the Seattle Center and Ely would share his personal knowledge with them and from that, students could see the career possibilities! He was always encouraging his students, he loved teaching! He was so pleasant and cooperative to work with and such...

Barb and others he loved. . . I am so sorry. He was such a special man. . . and talented too. . . .

We shall miss his wit & erudition.

He remained a sweet, kind soul his whole life.

Richard was a very special friend. I do miss him. He and Chuck Erickson were great friends. A friendship that lasted a lifetime. Richard’s enthusiasm and love of life was contagious.

HE WAS A LIFE LONG FRIEND. WE CLIMBED THE GRAND TETON . ONE OF MANY EXPERIENCES WE SHARED. ALAN NICKSIC.

I knew Richard soo well. We use to hike the wind rivers in the 70s together. He was so uplifting and positive! Soar!

It was with gusto that he faced their many linguistic, outdoors, travel and culinary adventures together over the past two decades. While his life ended too early, it is of comfort to know that he lived his days to the fullest and left his friends, students and family changed for having...
