EMERY Richard Meyer 1939 ~ 2009 Raised in Toledo and a '57 Graduate of DeVilbiss High, Richard spent many summers with YMCA Storer Camps at Stony Lake. Memories of camp and the rule of "I'm Third" (God first, everyone else 2nd and I'm 3rd) were among his most treasured and often the inspiration...

Not sure what to say?

Dick and I were graduate students together under Gene Welch in Civil Engineering. As students we helped each other a lot both in field and lab work and I learned a lot from him. Dick had a great sense of humor and was very generous and willing to help others. I last visited Dick (Becky was there) around 1982 (or so) in Richland. I am saddened to hear of his passing.

Just found out about Richards death today after we realised that no one had heard from him for awhile. No one in the family back here in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky knew. Makes us really sad. We'll miss Richard and are sorry he's gone.

Richard was my neighbor and friend. We would often run into each other on walks near our condo. Richard and the other neighbors, Clyde, Ron and myself all looked out for each other. We will surely miss you Richard.
Your Friend, Sue Gordon

I walked up and down Shorewood Drive with Richard a number of times. When I found out that we were both graduates of the Civil Engineering School at the UW I really enjoyed talking about professors we had taken classes from. I wish I had got to know him better.

I would like to send my condolences to the Emery family. I am an old friend of his brother, Will. He had much admiration for his older brother.

I will keep you all in my prayers.

Dick and I were in graduate school together at the University of Washington...most of our fun days were on Lake Sammamish taking water samples and "spilling" water on each other...Cliff Moon, Lake Forest Park, Washington

Dick was a school chum at the University of Washington in the early 1970s. We were constant companions with Dick and Phyllis (his wife) during those years, hiking in the Olympia National Park and Lake Ozette, dinner parties, parades, and more. During that time we were the closest of friends.
One of my fondest memories is Dick reciting from memory the Cremation of Sam McGee at the campfire with Beckie and Todd listening intently.
But perhaps the most distinct memory was a 3 day...

It's alwys difficult to contemplate the loss of one of my "kids". As with Dick, many are in their seventies. He was an important part of Camp Storer, as it was known in those days. in one of its most critical and exciting periods of time in its, now nearing 100 years, of service to people.

As I have said to countless people in recent years "thanks, Dick, for making me look good"! The plaudits accorded me over the last 55 years have been not for all that I did, but for what the...
