Richard J. Farrell, 78, passed away on October 22, 2024. A son of the late Leo J. and Clara (Fredette) Farrell, Richard was born on June 22, 1946. He attended local schools and worked as a technician for the telephone companies throughout the years. Richard was a proud volunteer at Baystate Cardiac Rehab and always looked forward to meeting with friends at Russ' Luncheonette. He is survived by his brother, John Farrell and his wife, Dayle, of FL. Richard will be sadly missed by his dear friends, Heidi Szalai and Amy Yankowski, who helped to care for Richard over the last few years, as well as his extended family at Baystate Cardiac Rehab, where he volunteered for 20 years and was an invaluable and beloved member of the team, supporting patients and staff. The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to the Hartford Hospital Transplant team, who helped Richard beat the odds as a heart transplant recipient more than 30 years ago. A graveside service for Richard will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at 11:00am in St. Michael's Cemetery, State St., Springfield. Corridan Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.
